About Me

My name is Maureen Hozey and I am a student at the University of North Florida. I am majoring in communication with a focus in multimedia journalism and reporting.

In my first semester at UNF, I took a writing class with Dr. Priscilla Berry. She taught me that the one thing that all employers look for is good communication skills. I remember her telling the class that all other skills can be taught on the job, but without communication skills, you have nothing.

I am a hard worker, a natural leader, as well as passionate and determined. If I am assigned to do something, I will get it done and do it right the first time.

I have a passion for connecting and interacting with people, and no matter the career path I choose, I want to end up doing something that helps people. I love learning about and from people, even complete strangers. Everyone has a story, and I love being able to tell those stories, especially those who aren’t in the spotlight.

During my time at UNF, I became the member director of the Environmental Advocacy Outreach. As a founding member and officer, I am the outlet for all current and prospective members to come to with any questions or concerns, and I helped design and create multiple projects and PR campaigns within the group.

I am proficient in Microsoft Office, as well as Adobe Premier Pro and Adobe Audition. I am also experienced with numerous social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and Pinterest. I am a quick, hands-on learner and I love to learn and apply new skills. I am a strong, creative writer and pride myself on my abilities to problem-solve and think outside the box.
